How to Choose a Celebrancy Training Provider
Sep 11, 2024If you are thinking about training as a Celebrant, it’s important that you find the right Celebrant training provider for you. Everyone is different and has unique circumstances, therefore some Celebrant training providers will be more appropriate than others. We encourage everyone to do their homework, read online reviews and thoroughly investigate the options before making a decision.
Here are 5 things we encourage you to look for.
Do they offer residential or online training?
It’s important to decide, firstly, whether you’d like to train online or in-person. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. For example, online training can miss that ‘human touch’ of in-person training, but is convenient for those who cannot take time out of their schedules to attend residential training. At ICPC, we offer residential training only - so if you are looking for an online training provider, we won’t be the best fit for you. However, if you are open to learning about the benefits and advantages of learning within a residential setting, we invite you to check out our training page with information on our beautiful training facility and 5 day itinerary - you can also download our brochure.
Residential, in-person learning is hugely advantageous to all trainee Celebrants. It caters to all learning styles, encourages engagement and allows you to put into practise the theoretical knowledge that you acquire. You can ask questions, meet new people, join a network of new Celebrants and be away from the distractions of home. This is why we focus only on in-person training, while our qualifications can be completed online.
Are the trainers experienced Celebrants?
There is a huge benefit to being taught by trainers who have professional experience in Celebrancy. Working Celebrants will be able to give you relevant, up-to-date knowledge and information that’s not only within the course material, but part of their own experience in the industry. It’s an excellent idea to search for a Celebrancy training provider with trainers who have worked in the field and know exactly what you are embarking upon. At ICPC, all of our Celebrant trainers are also accredited and qualified Celebrants who are currently working within their successful Celebrancy businesses.
What accredited qualifications are they offering?
We believe that the best Celebrants out there are the ones who have invested in an accredited qualification that compliments their core training. That’s why, at ICPC, we offer two accredited qualifications that can be completed after the 5 day residential training is finished. Some training providers offer something similar, but it’s worth checking if the qualification is accredited before making your decision. Accredited qualifications hold more weight than non-accredited ones - which you can hear more about here. Take a closer look at what the qualification entails, and whether or not it is something you feel you can commit to. Importantly, ensure that the Celebrant training provider can offer you personal support in your learning - especially if you have been out of education for a while. At ICPC, you get individual support from a personal tutor so that you can confidently work your way through your assignments or projects and ask any question as they arise.
What do their past cohorts say?
Celebrant training providers will tell you how fantastic their training is - but what do their past cohorts say? A professional training organisation will have online reviews available including Facebook reviews and mentions on social media. It’s worth investigating what people have said about their Celebrancy training in the past, to ensure that you are picking the right provider. You can read ICPC’s testimonials on the main website, or head over to Facebook and Instagram.
Alison said, “From start to finish the training that I received from ICPC was outstanding. Their residential course is highly recommended. High Trenhouse is an amazing venue and I was made to feel special and valued during my entire time there. The room, food and venue all excellent. The course covered everything that I needed to know in order to be one of the best in the business. The trainers are experienced Celebrants themselves, so understand exactly the feelings of nervousness and anxiousness all too well when first starting out on your Celebrant journey. They are exactly suited to provide up-to-date, professional training, guidance and generally a helping hand. Once the course is finished you aren't just 'cut loose', someone is always there to help whether it be through a sympathetic ear, professional guidance or the availability of CPD. Truly a life changing experience. Thank you ICPC!”
What ongoing support do they offer?
Celebrancy is a self-employed position, meaning you will need determination, perseverance and ongoing support to ensure your business thrives. Many Celebrant training providers will train Celebrants, but end the relationship once the training is completed. Other training providers, such as ICPC, offer ongoing support and encouragement for years after the residential training has finished. When you train with ICPC, you automatically receive a 12 month free membership where you can benefit from continuous learning opportunities, insurance, professional networking and mentorship.
