What Makes ICPC Training Unique?

Jun 14, 2023

There’s no shortage of celebrant training courses out there. It is, after all, a growing market

Awareness of what a Celebrant can bring to a special ceremony has grown exponentially and the demand will increase further when the Government allows Celebrants to carry out legal ceremonies. The question is if you want to be a Celebrant- How do you know which training provider to choose?

We want you to choose a training course that is right for you. Similarly, we only want to train delegates who are suited to our course and likely to thrive as a celebrant afterwards.

So, let’s talk more about what makes ICPC training unique, and how compatible we are for your particular needs and preferences.

What does celebrancy training consist of?

Every training provider is different, but will share some common themes. The training should provide a comprehensive in-depth look at weddings and/or funeral celebrancy. Delegates should learn skills such as:

  • Preparing, writing and delivering a funeral eulogy
  • End to end wedding ceremony planning and delivery
  • How to use music and video in a ceremony
  • How to write and deliver a baby naming ceremony
  • Marketing your celebrancy business
  • How to price yourself as a celebrant
  • The values and core principles of celebrancy in the UK
  • And much more…

While there will be variation amongst training providers, most should cover the above. Some training providers might only cover weddings or funerals and not combine the two, whereas others will combine all in one course.

At the end of the training, you should be given a certificate and feel well equipped to enter the celebrancy market.

Many training providers also give you the option to complete a formal qualification in celebrancy, but this is not always the case and will depend on the provider.

What makes ICPC training unique?

There are many factors that make ICPC stand out. These are listed below.

  1. We teach weddings, naming ceremonies and funerals all in one course. We do not provide the option to learn one or the other, which makes us very different from other providers. There is a good reason for this! We believe that celebrants should learn both to get a well rounded celebrancy education, and to use this learning to shape their future careers. We have written a whole blog post on this matter to explain it further, which you can read here
  2. Our course is run by trained celebrants. This is not often the case with similar training providers. At ICPC, every trainer is a fully qualified professional civil celebrant with current, real-world knowledge about working as a celebrant.
  3. We run our course from High Trenhouse. This is a stunning converted farm house in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. Forget chain hotels and blank conference rooms - High Trenhouse is a characterful, peaceful, immersive premises and also offers in-house catering and comfortable accommodation.
  4. We offer two different qualifications, the Level 3 Certificate in Civil Celebrancy (accredited by NOCN) and the Platinum Double Diploma. The Platinum Double Diploma is the highest level of qualification any celebrant can achieve in the UK, and it is offered exclusively by ICPC.
