10 Fun Facts About Training with ICPC

Aug 22, 2024

When you are searching for Celebrant training providers, you might find that you are offered a number of choices - all with different approaches. It might even feel a bit confusing. With that in mind, we want to make it easy for you to choose the right training provider for you. So, here are 10 fun facts about training with ICPC, what you can expect from the Celebrancy training we offer, and how to take the next step.

1. You’ll use an exclusive-access venue

ICPC’s residential 5 day training takes place at High Trenhouse in the Yorkshire Dales. We believe that face-to-face learning is the best way to grow and develop your celebrancy skills and knowledge, which is why we choose to train residentially. You will enjoy total exclusivity at the venue - there will be no other guests there apart from your cohort. This sets ICPC miles apart from other providers who often use hotels or conference rooms in mixed access buildings to train their Celebrants. High Trenhouse is located where you will be surrounded by nature and be able to totally focus on your training, with everything you need in one place.

2. Learning is mixed, interactive and fun

We accommodate all learning styles in our ICPC Celebrancy training. We use visual and written styles, as well as group work and individual reflection. We also cater to neurodiverse learning styles and any disabilities that might impact the way that you learn. So, no matter who you are, when you were last in education, or how you prefer to work, we will be able to help.

3. You’ll be trained by working Celebrants

ICPC trainers have lived experience in the world of Celebrancy. Some of them have even gone through the ICPC training course that you yourself are embarking upon. Therefore, they have real-world knowledge of the course, the journey into Celebrancy, and the reality of working as a Celebrant in today’s market. They can give you practical advice, answer your questions and share stories that will inspire and motivate you.

4. There's a choice of two accredited qualifications

Having an accredited qualification in Celebrancy is an advantage and sets you apart from Celebrants who may not have taken this step. We offer two accredited qualifications - a Level 3 Certificate, and a Platinum Double Diploma. Both qualifications are undertaken after your 5 day training is complete. Depending on which qualification you choose, you will have a set time period to complete the assignments. During that time you will have access to a personal tutor who will guide you through and all the online resources you need to gain your accreditation.

5. You’ll get a free 12 month membership

After you have trained with us, you will be given a 12 month free of charge membership with ICPC. This means you can enjoy all the member benefits, such as members only CPD sessions, open days, discounts, insurance, a directory and much more. After 12 months, you can continue your membership at our regular monthly cost.

6. You’ll learn weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies

Often, Celebrancy training providers offer the choice of learning weddings or funerals. But we teach all types of ceremonies over the 5 day residential course. We often find that people come to us with an idea of what type of Celebrant they want to become, only to change their minds during the course thanks to learning about other types of ceremonies. We like to give everyone the opportunity to explore the entire career before deciding if they want to specialise.

7. Your meals and accommodation is included - no hidden fees

The price you pay for your Celebrancy training includes absolutely everything you need for your 5 day residential including accommodation and food. You will enjoy a comfortable ensuite bedroom, and 3 meals a day with delicious home cooked meals that meet all dietary needs. The only thing you will pay for is your bar bill, should you choose to use the in-house bar in the evenings.

8. You'll get business and marketing support

Learning about ceremonies is not enough to build a successful business. You need to know about all aspects of business management too including accounting, marketing and how to sell your services. You learn all of this within our course, and can then further your learning afterwards with our CPD. If there’s an area you feel unsure about, such as social media or marketing, we can help. We want you to feel confident, supported and capable of being a first class Celebrant in every way.

9. You’ll make friends for life

Our cohorts often stay in touch for years after meeting at High Trenhouse. You are guaranteed to meet friendly, like minded people who not only share your interest in Celebrancy, but who can help you to build your business through peer-support in the future. Having a network of Celebrants around you will enhance your chances of success and give you more support and encouragement.

10. Your learning won’t stop there

After you have trained with ICPC, we offer a wide range of learning opportunities that you can enjoy in the future. Some people benefit from refresher training. Others like to attend our CPD courses or come to member’s days. You can also join our Facebook and Whatsapp groups for more ongoing conversation and support as your business grows.

Becoming a Celebrant is a rewarding experience, and we want to make sure that you enjoy every moment of it. By training with ICPC, you are setting yourself up for the best chance of success in today’s Celebrancy market.
